Walking tour 1

Classic walking tour of the city center is especially popular among foreigners.

You meet with the guide at the hotel, then walk and see the Alexandrovsky garden and Manezh Square, the Ruins grotto, the Tomb of the unknown soldier (change of the guard can be seen there), the complex "Okhotny Ryad", sculptures and fountains, history Museum, Moskva hotel - the monument to Zhukov, a "zero kilometer" place, the resurrection gate, shops of Souvenirs.

Then you walk through the Red square and Mausoleum, St. Basil's Cathedral,see the walls and towers of the Kremlin. You visit GUM and its shops and cafes, Nikolskaya street and the Manezhnaya square.

The tour starts from the hotel "Troyka Moscow" and then you visit the Cathedral of Christ the Savior - the main Orthodox Church, the monument to Alexander III, the Patriarch's Bridge (the best view of the Kremlin), the Volkhonka street (the Pushkin Museum), Pashkov House, Alexander garden, Manezh square and then Red square, St. Basil's Cathedral, GUM. During this excursion you walk a long distance, so the tour is suitable for active people.

The Cathedral Of Christ The Savior and Old Arbat.

During this walking tour you will visit the main sights of Moscow.

The tour is good for those who were already on the Red square. You start the tour from the hotel "Troyka Moscow" and go to the Cathedral of Christ the Savior, you visit the main Orthodox Church, the monument to Alexander III and Patriarch's Bridge (the best view of the Kremlin).

Then you walk along the Gogol Boulevard and see the monument to Sholokhov and to Gogol.

After it you come to the Old Arbat street and walk through one of the most famous streets of Moscow, where you can buy something in the souvenir stores.

The Moscow Kremlin

The Kremlin is the heart of Russia, one of its main symbols, all over the world the Kremlin and the Red square are the synonymous of Moscow and Russia.<br> The Moscow Kremlin has a long history. This is a military, administrative, cultural complex, formed by centuries.The first settlement - the future Moscow was founded on the Borovitsky hill at the place of the Kremlin. There the unification of the Russian lands began, and the troops of Dmitry Donskoy went away from that place to the Kulikovo field for the liberation from the Tatars, and there a new, powerful state was formed. At the same time in the 15-16th century, the Kremlin became a religious centre of the Orthodox world – the Third Rome.<br> Today, the Kremlin is the official residence of the President of the Russian Federation, the main social, political, religious, historical Museum complex in Moscow.

The Kremlin Tour

During the excursion to the Moscow Kremlin you will visit the Kremlin territory, the Assumption Cathedral and the Archangelsky Cathedral of the Moscow Kremlin. Entering the Kremlin through the Kutafya tower and the Trinity gate, you will see the Arsenal building, constructed during the reign of Peter I, and the captured cannons of Napoleon's army. Next you will move to the Ivanovskaya square and see the Senate Palace, the famous Tsar Cannon, the largest weapon of its time and the Tsar Bell, weighing about 200 tons. You will come to the famous Cathedral square, perhaps the most beautiful square in Moscow and one of the oldest. The square is surrounded by the Bell tower of Ivan the Great, the Patriarch's Palace, the Church of rizopolozheniya (home Church of Moscow metropolitans), the famous Palace of facets, the Annunciation and Archangesky cathedrals.

The territory of the Moscow Kremlin is open daily, except Thursday, from 10:00 till 17:00.

The State Armoury Chamber Excursion

The State Armoury Chamber is one of the most famous museums in Russian Federation, with very rich and beautiful collection. Some of the exhibits were made in the Kremlin's workshops, others were accepted as ambassadorial gifts.

It is situated in the building constructed in 1851 by architect Konstantin Ton. It was built for preservation and exhibition of tsar’s treasury collection and it was the first building ever constructed especially for museum purposes.

Nowadays, collection consists of:

  • The largest unique collection of pottery and jewelry made by Russian craftsmen during the 12 - 20th centuries, including the biggest in the world collection of Faberge eggs,
  • Several collections of West European artistic silver made in 13th -19th centuries, including largest in the world collection of English artistic silver of 16th-17th centuries.
  • Ceremonial weapons and arms of 12- 19th centuries, ancient state regalia.
  • Vestments of the Russian Orthodox Church’es hierarchs and secular clothes, ceremonial dresses of 18th-20thcenturies.
  • Rare unique collection of carriages and horse ceremonial harness.
  • Thrones and crowns (including the Monomach’s cap, Hiericon’s cap – helmet) and old state treasuries.

The Diamond fund

The Diamond Fund exhibition has a unique collection of precious stones, prills of gold and jewelry of Tsar’s family. This collection was started by Peter the Great, who considered, the most precious and expensive jewelry must belong to state, but not to Tsar’s family. Initially, it was kept in one of the rooms of Winter Palace in Saint Petersburg, but during the First World War, the whole collection was transferred into Kremlin. In 1976, permanent exhibition was opened in The State Armoury Chamber of Moscow’s Kremlin.

A beautiful collection of Russian diamonds of different sizes and shapes is the first thing to be explored by visitors at the beginning of the excursion. After that, tourists are ready for the main collection overview, which includes state regalia, ceremonial jewelry and medals of Honor. 

The state regalia is a gem of the whole collection:

  • Crown of Russian Empire, was made under strict order of Ekaterina II. It is decorated with 5 000 diamonds and dark-red spinel stone in 400 carats. It is the most expensive crown in the world.
  • The symbol of Russian Empire (Derzhava) with huge sapphire.
  • The scepter of Imperator with famous “Orlov” diamond in 190 carats.

The diamond “Shah” in 88 carats is one of the most famous items in collection. It was presented to Russian Imperator by Persian Shah as an apology for murder of a famous Russian poet Griboedov in the city of Teheran. 

 For visitor’s amusement, despite ceremonial items, the most unusual and spectacular jewelry pieces of tsar’s family are also exhibited here. The Diamond Fund collection also has beautiful items of modern jewelry art. 

At the end of The Diamond Fund excursion, visitors will see the most massive in the world collection of gold and platinum prills, including the biggest gold prill of 36 kg. Many of them have very unusual shape, and were named as Mefistofel, camel, or dolphin.

The State Tretiakov gallery

<p> The State Tretiakov gallery is one of the biggest museums of modern art in the world. It has a worldwide fame and for sure, the leading place among all attractions in Moscow. The State Tretiakov gallery is visited by hundred thousands of Russian and foreign tourists every year. It is so famous, that usually called simply “Tretiakovka”. </p> <p> Merchant Pavel Tretiakov founded the State Tretiakov gallery in 1856. Since then, the collection of art has grown rapidly and the main building of the gallery was renovated many times, to contain the all pieces of art together. Nowadays, collection consists of more than 40 000 items, included an ancient and unique icons by Andrey Rublev, well-known to every Russian paintings of Aivazovskiy, Surikov, Shihkin, Vasnetsov, Vereschagin, Kuinzhi. Worldwide famous Russian avant-gardists as Petrov-Vodkin, Malevich, Kandinskiy are exhibited here too. </p>

The Pushkin museum, or the full name is The Pushkin Museum of Fine Arts, is the biggest art museum of European and World’s art in Russia. The Pushkin museum was founded in 1912. The museum’s collection consists of 560 thousands items of paintings, sculptures, graphic arts, arts and crafts, monuments of archeology and coins. The main building of museum was constructed by R.I. Kleiman in eclectic style and building itself is a piece of architectural art. Every hall of the museum is dedicated to particular time and built according of style of this epoch. Kolomenskoye

<p> The Moscow State Integrated Art and Historical Architectural and Natural Landscape Museum-Reserve KolomenskoyeReserve Kolomenskoye is a unique place with long history, located in the south of Moscow city. Particularly here, remains of Middle Ages settlement (3-5 thousand years B.C.) were founded on the territory of the city. The museum-reserve of Kolomenskoye is covered with legends and mystery stories.There are couple of magical stones here – “maiden stone” and “goose-stone”, ancient Golosov ravine is also situated here. </p> <p> Another place of interest is Church of the Ascension, it is one of the most well known and unusual churches in Russia, on the neighbor ravine Church of the Beheading of the Head of John the Baptist is located. Museum-reserve Kolomenskoye is connected closely to many historical events, people and mysteries. </p>

The Moscow State Integrated Art and Historical Architectural and Natural Landscape Museum- Reserve Kolomenskoye

Initially, Museum-reserve Kolomenskoye was an estate of Moscow’s grand dukes and then it was owned by Tsar Family. The first, and the most famous one building there is Church of the Ascension, this masterpiece of architecture is included in UNESCO World Heritage list. According to the legend, it was build after order of Vasiliy III as a gratitude to his wife for giving birth to their son – Ivan the Terrible. And in honor of his wedding.

Ivan the Terrible gave an order to construct Church of the Beheading of the Head of John the Baptist in the neighborhood. This mysterious building looks like Saint Basil’s Cathedral, however, architect is unknown. Church is connected with many secrets, one of them is about library of Ivan the Terrible. It is considered, that library is hidden somewhere in this church. Temple is surrounded by old graveyard, and many visitors have confessed feeling very weird and supernatural atmosphere here. However, Museum-reserve Kolomenskoye became famous during the reign of Tsar Aleksey Mihailovich. This area became favorite place of Tsar’s holidays. 

During this time, the area become favourite tsar’s residence. Many buildings were constructed at this time, most of them are still remain until nowadays. 

But not only churches are the main attractions here, there are many outbuildings, engineering and administrative constructions of that epoch, for example Water Tower or Colonel’s chambers. It used to be «an eight wonder of the world» here - huge wood palace of tsar Aleksey Mikhailovich. Now its copy was built close to the territory of museum - reserve Kolomenskoye. Museum-reserve Kolomenskoye was opened in 1923, after the opening, many architectural monuments were transferred here - Tower of Bratsk Stockaded Fort, Tower of Nikolo-Korelsky Monastery and House of Peter the Great from Arkhangelsk. At the moment, museum - reserve Kolomenskoye is a vast complex of territories with natural and architectural monuments from totally different periods of times.

Museum - reserve Kolomenskoye is one of the main must-see places of Moscow and very popular among Russian and foreign travellers.

Sergiev Posad

<p> Sergiev Posad is a city which was built around the holiest place in Russia- The Holy Trinity-St. Sergius Lavra. Monastery of The Holy Trinity-St. Sergius Lavra was named after very revered saint in Russia - Saint Sergius of Radonezh. The Holy Trinity-St. Sergius Lavra
